Public Services and Big data

With recent changes in the bus routes in Scotland, data had to be analysed to confirm the most used and least used places. Transport due to this had to be changed, some services were cut due to less use while the popular routes had more services targeted towards them. This has now improved the service by becoming reliable and cost effective for both the company and customers. Another sector is police analysis, some places are targeted with crime while others can be quiet. Response times due to this would be targeted at the place with higher rate of crime while places with minimal crime would not have as much police presence. Lastly, local government. They have many opportunities however the volume of rubbish laying around is often monitored. Due to this, more bins are placed around to ensure no more waste gets left around or so one would hope.
